About Inside Defense Krav Maga Springfield MO
We are the Official International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) gym in Springfield MO, the same IKMF established by the founder and creator of Krav Maga, Imi Lichtenfeld. Our instructors are officially certified to teach Krav Maga to civilians to respond to real life or death situations, which is what makes us stand apart from our self defense institutions in Missouri. We are not just a self defense/fitness gym, we are a strongly connected community!
When choosing self defense classes, one must determine which is most practical for real life situations. Unlike martial art sports, Krav Maga originated in Israel under battle field conditions and adapted very efficiently to real life on the streets.
Until the advent of Krav Maga, self-defense and close-quarters combat were thought of as two distinct methodologies. Self-defense is usually a case in which a defender was unaware of an impending attack. In close-quarters-combat, two opponents are aware of the others respective movements and perceived violent intent. Our Krav Maga classes will discuss both circumstances.
Krav Maga fuses two defense disciplines into one fighting system, giving a trainee the tools needed to defend oneself of both; when taken by surprise or when well aware of your opponent. In Krav Maga, you will learn to quickly react under any situation giving you the most practical self defense in Springfield.

Krav Maga training is physical and typically intense. In class, topics covered range from self-defense principles and tactics, striking, multiple attacker training, sparring, to a multitude of defense techniques.
What if I Have an Injury?
Dealing with injuries is part of life. Inform the instructor, your training partners and learn to train around minor and old injuries. Violent people will not care if you are dealing with a bad knee. You have to be able to work around them as safely in class as possible. We can find a way to make it work because that is your reality.
What Do I Bring to Class?
Your punch card, and water if you want it. Most people typically wear workout clothes and shoes. Get groin protection as soon as possible. All other gear can be pieced together as you go.
